Nam Myoho Renge Kyo Framed Art
Inspirational Buddhist Wall Decor
Some pieces are made to decore a wall, others are made to hold a story.
This custom wall installation was created for a client who is a Nichiren Buddhist practitioner, inspired by and dedicated to the sonorous chant of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. Each hand-painted tile explores the meaning of the chant through lotus motifs, words and symbols, while the blue frame reflects the lotus blooming in calm waters - a reminder of Buddhahood, peace, resilience, and inner transformation.
The cracks that emerged during firing were embraced rather than rejected or hidden, using the Japanese art form of kintsugi - mending using gold, celebrating imperfections as part of the process of growth and development. A gentle reminder that our cracks, failures and setbacks often become the very places where growth begins.
More than ceramic art, this piece is a reflection, philosophy and conversation woven into clay.
